Much-loved Leeds' post-punk quartet Post War Glamour Girls release their third album ‘Swan Songs’ on Hide & Seek Records on the 17th of April. ‘Swan Songs’ is the follow up to 2015’s acclaimed ‘Feeling Strange’ and their outstanding debut album, 2014’s ‘Pink Fur’ which was described as being musically reminiscent of Pixies and Wild Beasts, with the dual vocals of James and Alice evocative of Mark E. Smith trading off against Kim Gordon.
DIE DAS DER are bringing the band back to Birmingham again as part of the 'Swan Songs' UK tour.
MATTERS: Even with only a couple of gigs under their belts, this instrumental trio (with a collective history that includes Them Wolves, Das Bastard and Mayors of Toronto) are an exciting prospect. In the words of Counteract Magazine: «Matters‘ gloomy instrumental soundscapes resound as if straight out of a classic film set in a dystopian future». Destined for greatness in 2017.
Ghosts of Dead Airplanes: Trimmed to a 3 piece but fattened up by encroaching middle age, DIE DAS DER stalwarts GoDA are hitting new heights and plumbing new depths this year with some astonishingly good and ferocious new material, coupled levels of energy and commitment that are befuddling the laws of natural science. They will entertain.
Fauxchisels: World events having conspired against them since they announced their disbandment last May, the 'Chisels have decided that this place needs people to shout about Jeremy Hunt and such like — and will thencefoth be continuing until we have all been shouted into a better place. With the recording of a debut LP planned for later in the Spring — this year may not turn out to be that bad after all.
