Launch Day for the store’s new Gaming Table — The Desolation of Akheron IV!
Although officially designated ‘Akheron IV’, to its myriad of workers this system is known only as ‘The ‘Woeful Planet’. Local legend states that in ages past terrible events occurred and that the light of The Emperor has always shone dim here, thus leading to bad luck. In spite of this Akheron has no shortage of pilgrims and workers due to its close ties to the Macragge system and the cold efficiency of its Mechanicum rulers — who care little for local legends.
Officially a frontline trading port offering full rearmament and re-supply facilities to fleets and military vessels throughout the Ultramar sector there have been whispers of more suspicious activities taking place. Disappearances of local workers, the insane ramblings of mad men claiming to have borne witness to Xenos activity and even rumours of forbidden experiments abound, although no official proof has ever been documented nor explanation given. What is obvious to all but the most blind followers of the Omnissiah however are the massive numbers of Skitarri patrols seen both on world and around the various dry dock facilities.
This is how Akheron has always been, and likely would always have been, if not for the Great Rift.
Once the light of the Astronomican had been restored, it soon became clear that Akheron had suffered a dark fate. All communications to and from the world had ceased, half resupplied vessels lay in orbit unmanned and empty and an ominous null shadow hung over the system…
Initial attempts by Imperial Navy, Astra Militarum and Skitarii cohorts were lost soon after entering the system, all communication suddenly lost as if swallowed by some shadowed warp entity.
The worst is feared, the stakes are rising and a full Imperial crusade fleet has been launched, Astartes assets have pledged their support accompanied by the awesome might of the newly forged Primaris and specialists of the Deathwatch. It is even said that Titan itself has sent Grey Knight support to the system, although if this is just a precaution or a sign of darker powers at work is unknown at present.
The Imperium has launched it’s finest, but what will they find when they arrive?
Only time will tell…
And that time is NOW! YOU can help tell the tale of this forgotten world in store.
