On 21st December 2017, the West Midlands Salsa scene sadly lost a young man who managed to brighten everyone’s day whenever they were in his presence. Stefan Morgan is now dancing with the angels after battling health issues from the age of 14 when he was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease. This young man had a promising career in Football, playing with the Birmingham City Youth team until his health dictated otherwise, ending his dreams in football. Stefan, however, had other ideas and didn’t allow his health to dictate what he could and could not do. He danced, he sang, he practiced Kung Fu & lived life to its fullest, wearing his unique, cheeky smile!
He was a popular individual on the dance scene & after attending the funeral, hearing tributes from others, this young man definitely inspired many! It is because of these reasons why a few local promoters have been discussing ways in which we could show our appreciation to this young man & what he brought to our world.
So Smooth Salsa, Muchasalsa, One Love Salsa, Latin Motion, Malembe Malembe, UK Salsa Feet & Urban Latino have decided to hold a charity event on Saturday 24th March 2018, to raise as much money as possible for Kidney Research UK, to fund research & help others who are also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease.
All artists on the night will not be getting paid with the only expense on the night being the fee of Aston University for the hire of the venue & security for the night.
So please put this date in your diary, come support us in raising as much money as possible for this good cause!

Since putting the word out quite a number of people have come forward and volunteered their services and there are some that wanted to participate but were already pre-booked for other events. Due to the amount of support received, I was kind of in a difficult situation, struggling to find a way to accommodate all the teachers without leaving anyone out & so I came up with my master plan!
We can’t run hours of classes on the night which would cut into dancing time so we are going to have 2 hours of lessons, Salsa and Kizomba, beginners, improvers, and Intermediates.
Classes at 8.30pm
Cuban Salsa with Robert & Hopeton
We have local Kizomba teachers, Norma & Annette, Sol and Tony Tee teaching the three levels of Kizomba.
Salsa Classes at 9.30pm
Beginners with Sheron & Fiona (to be confirmed)
Improvers with Patrick, Roby & Carol. Patrick will teach 30 minute and Roby & Carol will teach 30 minutes to create 1 combined turn pattern over the hour.
Intermediates with Michael, Jose & Welsey with the plan being that each teacher will teach a 20-minute section, in no particular order, to create one combined turn pattern for the hour.
