Classless Society Cinema is thrilled to present the invigorating documentary: 'OVARIAN PSYCOS'.

Riding through Eastside Los Angeles, the Ovarian Psyco-Cycles use bicycles, art and activism to confront the violence in their lives. At the helm of the crew is founder Xela de la X, a single mother and emcee dedicated to recruiting an unapologetic, misfit crew of women of colour. Contextualising their struggles within continuing patriarchal violence and the legacy of the '60s Chicano Movement, the bicycle brigade take fearlessly to the streets in the spirit of collective joy and rage. Documentary filmmakers Kate Trumbull-LaValle and Johanna Sokolowski followed the 'Ovas' for four years to bring their stories about community empowerment, self-organisation and sisterhood to an international audience.

The screening is followed by a participatory discussion where we could consider how the presence of cyclists in a notoriously cycle-shitty city such as Birmingham can bring about new forms of self-organisation, and how we can work together to improve conditions for cyclists in the city.

This will be the final instalment of Classless Society Cinema before we break for the summer months. There is a £3 entry charge to cover the screening costs and to help plan for future screenings. We will once again be joined by The Real Junk Food Project Birmingham who will provide food and snacks on a pay-as-you-feel basis.

Cycling to the venue is strongly encouraged!
